KMIII International Airport Special Economic Zone (SEZ)

The KMIII International Airport precinct was designated to operate as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in 2019 by the Government of Eswatini. A total 2300 hectares of land is earmarked for industrial development of which 67 hectares of the land is fully serviced and ready to welcome new investment.

The precinct is strategically located 48km north of Eswatini’s retail hub, Manzini City with good connectivity through the MR3 Road network. The SEZ takes advantage of its prime location due to its proximity to the state of the art Airport thus creating a conductive investment location.

The SEZ will afford unique lucrative financial or tax incentives earmarked to benefit enterprises to be located within the Airport precinct. This designated SEZ is geared to promote foreign and local Investment.

The economic zone targeted priority sectors are:

1. Aerospace and aviation linked manufacturing and services
2. Agriculture and agro-processing including horticulture, aquaculture and floriculture
3. Hi-tech manufacturing and assembly industries
4. Freight forwarding and aviation services
5. Warehousing and cold storage
6. Exhibition centres
7. Offices
8. Retail
9. Cargo terminal

KMIII International Airport Special Economic Zone incentives:

An Investor in the special economic zone shall be entitled to the following incentives :

a) Exemption from the payment of corporate tax for an initial period of twenty years and thereafter a corporate tax shall be charged at the rate of five percent;
b) Remission of customs duty, value added tax and any other tax payable in respect of goods purchased for use as raw material, equipment, machinery including all goods and services directly related to manufacturing in the special economic zones;
c) Exemption from foreign exchange control or restriction on operations carried on in a special economic zone;
d) Be entitled to unrestricted repatriation of profits;
e) Be entitled to green technology allowance;
f) Be entitled to claim an allowance on constructed buildings;
g) Exemption from training levy, for an investor who has trained local employees;
h) Be entitled to an allowance for research and development.
